Problem: PC Settings>Update & Recovery>Recovery ... missing recovery option to create a system image

PC Settings>Update & Recovery>Recovery ... missing recovery option to create a system image.

Problem: Incomplete feel?

You are only offered to read a system image (Advanced startup) but not create a system image?

What is the point being able to read a system image from user mode - if you can not create it in user mode on i.e. WinRT?

This was missing in the preview of W8 as well but appeared in the RTM version.  I would hope that it appears in the RTM version of W8.1 in due course.

Hi,

You can use the Recimg.exe command tool to create system image for windows 8:

Ok, thx for the tool tip. I also use the capture feature of Windows Deployment Services to automatically capture a system image and put it in a repository. Are consumers just like Mrs. Smith also supposed to use tools like that :o) - although may be a smaller manual task like learning to use recimg.exe?

But this is a "bug report" to inform that the option to create a system image is missing from the new recovery actions for consumers in the actionable UI of PC Settings.

Previously (in Win8) those recovery settings was put under PC Settings>General (just checked a Win8 RTM release - and can not see the option to create a system image from inside the UI was there before as stated Tony Wise above.

So although this is the Pro Technet forum ...  just a bug report stating as it is right now ... consumers are not offered to create a system image from within the PC Settings>Update and Recovery ... guess the problem is the Backup option (a recovery method) is missing and should be listed in there as well.
